US Department of agriculture scientists indicate us one easy way to maintain the immune system healthy
Did you know the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) funded experts demonstrated that Organic mushrooms play an essential role in keeping the body's defense mechanisms healthy?
In a recent document published in July 2010 from Sciencedaily.com, leading journalist Rosalie Marion Bliss reported how the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) experts have conducted an animal-model and cell-culture research project showing that white button fresh mushrooms enhanced the activity of critical cells in the body's immune system.
Agaricus bisporus (identified variously as the common mushroom, button mushroom or white mushroom) is an edible basidiomycete mushroom indigenous to grasslands in European countries and North America. Agaricus bisporus is cultivated in more than 70 states and is probably the most commonly and widely eaten mushrooms globally.
In America, white button mushrooms represent 90 % of the total mushrooms consumed.
The research (Reference: http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/AR/archive/jul10/immunity0710.htm) was conducted at the Jean Mayer Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA) at Tufts University by center director Dr. Simin Meydani.
The final results suggest that white button mushrooms may enhance immune function by increasing the production of antiviral and other proteins that are produced by cells while seeking to defend and repair tissue.
The study's cell-culture phase showed that white button mushrooms enhanced the maturity of immune system cells called "dendritic cells," from bone marrow.
Dendritic cells can make T cells that are important white blood cells that can recognise and eventually deactivate or eliminate antigens on invading microorganisms.
When immune system cells are exposed to disease-causing pathoenic agents, like bacteria, our body starts to increase the number and function of immune system cells, according to Dr. Meydani.
Regarding white button mushrooms, one easy method to implement them in your everyday diet could be to start thinking on some sample dishes: The Masala mushroom is a nice example.
Garam masala is a basic blend of ground spices typical in Indian and other South Asian cuisines. It is used by itself or with other seasonings.

We just went out to the beautiful beach today with Katie and my 3 kids. We went down to Manuel Antonio here in Costa Rica and enjoyed the warm sea.
We met an old man, who was selling coconuts. So we bought 5 of them out of a box filled with ice. They were so good. And just while he was opening them a little coincidence happened. A little heart shaped opening at the coconut appeared, and made us all smile!
Even the old man was admiring this little coconut trying to change the worl (LOL) Anyway, I...
This is what for me the raw food diet is all about. This is the statement which is behind all that. It is the manifestation of becoming better. In order to manifest shining, vibrant health, we need to make healthy choices all along the way. It is as simple as that. We need to make more and more healthy choices and try to avoid choices and food that make us feel bad. And this is very individual. What might be good for me, can as well be very bad for you. This is also the reason, why the raw foo... Continue reading...
